What the board was telling us
If you had checked MockGrader before the 2026 draft, you would have had a better map for which analysts to trust, where consensus was fragile, and why track record beats draft-week noise.
- Trenches ruled the round Nine offensive linemen went in Round 1, including a long run of tackles and guards through the middle of the board. That kind of structural demand matters as much as player rankings.
- Ohio State owned the top 11 Four Ohio State players landed in the top 11: Carnell Tate, Arvell Reese, Sonny Styles, and Caleb Downs. The class rewarded analysts who spotted where the blue-chip cluster met team needs.
- Consensus had limits The lesson was not that mocks are useless. It was that final mocks should be treated as track records: who reads the board, who overfits consensus, and who has earned trust when the league gets weird.

How scoring works
We take each analyst's last published mock before the draft and score it against the actual Round 1 order. One rubric, every year, no adjustments after the fact.
Step 01 Final mock only
We lock in the last board each analyst published before the first
pick. No revisions, no averages.
Step 02 Score vs actual
Exact hits, player hits (wrong team), position hits, and proximity —
each worth different points.
Step 03 Trust rating
Scores normalize to a 0–100 trust number. S through D tier. Same
thresholds, every season.
